Inexpensive Alternative to Color Switch
After watching a few videos featuring Sephora's Color Switch by Vera Mona, I noticed that the product looked a lot like simple stipple sponges that professional makeup artists use often when it comes to editorial work, Halloween looks, etc. About 2 years ago, Qosmedix sent me a box of some of their products including these stipple sponges. I don't do a lot of editorial work anymore, so they were sitting in a drawer since I received them. I decided to give it a try, and the sponges worked great! I have never used the Color Switch before, so I actually can not compare the two products. However, as you can see from the pictures, the stipple sponges clean the brush pretty well.
I used a MAC 239 brush and dipped it into MAC's Embark eyeshadow. I swiped it back and forth in quick motions on the stipple sponges for less than a minute and was pretty amazed by the results. This method works great if you want to use the same makeup brush for multiple colors. A block of 12 stipple sponges are only $2 at Qosmedix while the Color Switch is $18 at Sephora.
